Join us for a day exploring the heart of Shropshire, beginning with a visit to the thriving market town of Ludlow. Often described as an architectural gem, Ludlow sits proudly above the River Teme, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Welsh Marches. Its medieval streets, independent shops, bustling markets and year-round festivals give the town a lively, welcoming feel – perfect for a leisurely wander, a browse or a bite to eat. 

We then continue to Daniels Mill, near Bridgnorth – a remarkable piece of working history and home to the largest waterwheel powering a corn mill still in operation in England. Entrance is included in your visit. 

Nestled deep in a wooded valley and overlooked by the striking 19th-century viaduct of the Severn Valley Railway, Daniels Mill feels like stepping straight into the past. The mill has remained almost unchanged since the 18th century and has been owned by the same family for over 250 years. As the huge waterwheel turns, you’ll see wheat ground into flour by traditional millstones – the same method used for centuries. 

If you’re lucky, a steam train may pass overhead as the wheel turns below, creating a truly memorable moment. Visitors can also enjoy peaceful walks around the pools and the old mill ruins, with guided tours included to help bring the mill’s long history and careful restoration to life.
