Ever wondered what’s it’s like to drive a Bullocks coach? In this brand new series of blogs, we’ll be following Graham, one of our dedicated and long-serving drivers, as he describes his day-to-day work.
“I’m Graham, and I have worked at Bullocks Coaches since 1987, doing all types of coach driving work from day trips to the seaside, Tours of the Lake District, 5 day Holidays, weekend trips, continental trips, school trips to Chester Zoo, University Field Trips, Football Matches, Blackpool Illuminations Tours and so much more!
My favourite coach is RB14 BUL. It is a Scania Irizar PB, Tri Axle, Executive Coach and it is a pleasure to drive. It is very comfortable, has good vision and glides along the road in style. Passengers like it too, as it holds the road really well - the third axle makes all the difference to a smooth journey.
Here’s my favourite coach from a 10 day trip I did to Anglesey and North Wales last summer.
As I’m writing this, it’s Thursday 27th January and I am parked up in Manchester having just dropped off a group at the Bridgewater Hall, to see the Halle Orchestra perform. Today my day started at 2.30pm when I prepared the coach for my afternoon/evening work. My first job was to take school children home to Knutsford from 3 Manchester schools, on one of our many home to school to home regular contracts. I then drove from Knutsford to Bramhall to collect my evening group and bring them into Manchester for the Halle Concert, at the Bridgewater Hall. After the concert, I will take them back home to Bramhall, hopefully getting back to the garage around 11.15pm to which I will then clean the coach ready for tomorrow, finishing around 11.45pm.
I enjoy the variety of work at Bullocks Coaches. Each day is different, going to a new place every day, meeting new people and making sure everyone's trip on my coach is the best day out ever. I’m always on an adventure, so stay tuned for my next blog!”
