Overview
An introduction to Lake District Keswick & Bowness
Grasmere lies in the heart of the English Lake District National Park, just north of Lake Windermere.
This world famous village is a classic tourist attraction; here is Dove Cottage, the home of the English Poet William Wordsworth and it is also the home of Sarah Nelson's Grasmere Gingerbread.
You will, on visiting the village, discover The Grasmere Gingerbread Shop tucked away at the corner of the churchyard of St. Oswald's Church. Although the droves of locals and visitors alike, and the wonderful aroma of freshly baked gingerbread, is enough to lead you inside this tiny shop, for those of you who have never experienced a visit to this unique place before, then browse through, seep up the history, and take the opportunity to have this most wonderful Lakeland delicacy delivered to your door.
Keswick Market has around 40 stalls and is held in Main Street and has stalls selling a range of local produce. The traditional market offers a wide range of both locally and internationally produced pottery, carvings, crafts and clothes. You'll also find a selection of delicious home-made jams, preserves and other produce, as well as local meat. Well worth a visit!
